چکیده
Abstract Objective Computer assistance has become indispensable in the reconstruction of orbit and midface. Although these are key areas an individual’s esthetic appearance, defects or deformities midface, especially those orbit, treated diversely. Methods The aim this article is to present wide utility computer-assistance modern craniomaxillofacial surgery, including virtual planning, computer-aided design, guided navigational control, patient-specific implants, quality control via image fusion. Results There have been rapid advances both digital planning manufacturing processes, with continual improvements. Conclusions Patient-specific implants pushed boundaries reconstructive surgery all surgical specialties.

Computer assisted tomography (CAT) in the transverse axial plane, a fundamentally new method of x-ray diagnosis, was developed from I967 to 1972 by G. N. Hounsfield (I973) at the Central Research Laboratories of E.M.I. Ltd. Clinical evaluation of this technique by J. Ambrose (I973) at Atkinson Morley's Hospital has indicated the enormous value of the investigation in patients with intracranial ...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the use of computer-assisted designed and manufactured (CAD/CAM) orbital wall and floor implants for late reconstruction of extensive orbital fractures. METHODS We performed a retrospective data review on 29 patients treated for extensive orbital fractures from January 1, 1997, through December 31, 2007, at the University College London Hospitals. The use of a CAD/CAM te...
متن کاملMidfacial Reconstruction – A Systematic Review
AIM Different lesions affecting the midfacial regions require surgical reconstruction. The aim of this study was to assess the different methods used in midfacial reconstruction after maxillectomy procedures. The various reported surgical reconstructive techniques focusing on the esthetic and functional outcomes are to be reviewed in this article. MATERIAL AND METHODS A thorough PUBMED and ha...

Ablative tumor surgery, orbital and mid face reconstruction as much as skull base surgery requires detailed planning using CT or MRI. Reconstruction is depending on reliable information to choose correct type of grafts and to predict the outcome. Benefits and indications of computer-assisted surgery in the treatment of craniomaxillofacial surgery are demonstrated. Based on a CT or MRI data set,...
متن کاملThe Role of Computer-Assisted Technology in Post-Traumatic Orbital Reconstruction: A PRISMA-driven Systematic Review
Post-traumatic orbital reconstruction remains a surgical challenge and requires careful preoperative planning, sound anatomical knowledge and good intraoperative judgment. Computer-assisted technology has the potential to reduce error and subjectivity in the management of these complex injuries. A systematic review of the literature was conducted to explore the emerging role of computer-assiste...
